A suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of an infant on Barberry Drive in October 2024. Jamal Rayshun Porter, 28, faces a charge of injury to a child in the 208th State District Court, according to Houston Police Department release.
On October 25, 2024, around 9 p.m., Porter and the child's mother called 9-1-1 to report that their three-month-old infant was unresponsive. Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived and transported the child to a hospital, where the infant was later pronounced dead. Detectives M. Barrow and J. Caten from the HPD Homicide Division provided details about the response by first responders.
An autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences revealed that the child died from blunt force trauma. Following this finding, further investigation led to Porter's arrest on Wednesday. After consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and reviewing the evidence, Porter was charged in connection with the child's death.
