A man died on Tuesday morning after his truck crashed into a community swimming pool in Houston’s Alief neighborhood. According to Click2Houston, the driver, who has not been identified, was speeding on Boone Road near Bellaire Boulevard and Beechnut Street when he veered into another lane.
The vehicle hit a tree and a curb before breaking through a chain-link fence and sinking into a pool. An Houston Police Department sergeant attempted to rescue the driver but was unsuccessful. "But he still tried and got in there and did the best he could, but was not able to get anybody out of that truck," Houston Police Department Lt. R. Willkens said in a statement to KHOU.
A dive team recovered a man's body and removed a vehicle after it crashed into an 11-foot-deep pool. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the HPD's Vehicular Crimes Division. Authorities have not released updates on the vehicle's condition. The investigation is ongoing, and officials will provide more details as they become available, as reported by Click2Houston.
