Houston Police Department is actively investigating a fatal incident involving a pedestrian and a white Toyota Camry that occurred around 8:40 p.m. last Saturday on 1700 Almeda Genoa Road. In a statement obtained by the Houston Police Department, the victim, a 26-year-old male, has not yet been publicly identified as authorities await confirmation by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The report from HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant Y. Ramirez and Officer T. Hudson noted the pedestrian was allegedly walking in a moving lane of traffic when struck. The driver of the Toyota, who had remained at the scene after the crash, was to have been questioned and then released without charges. Indications of intoxication were not apparent, according to the Houston PD's assessment.
Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the injured male to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. It is believed that the victim had possibly been coming from a venue located at 13700 Karalis Road, situated just a bit south of the Almeda Genoa crash site.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities continue to gather information. Witnesses or individuals with details about the incident are encouraged to assist HPD in determining the events leading up to the crash.
