At around 3:05 a.m., a 21-year-old male was fatally struck by a red Honda CRV as he attempted to cross the highway, according to a release from the Houston Police Department's Vehicular Crimes Division. Sergeant Y. Ramirez and Officer R. Young indicated that the young man was not in a crosswalk at the time of the accident and was left in a roadway by the driver, who fled the scene. Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived subsequently and pronounced the man deceased on the scene. In the meantime, the involved vehicle was located abandoned in a nearby parking lot, suggesting the driver made an attempt to evade responsibility for the incident.
