Houston police are actively searching for a suspect involved in an early morning shooting that occurred on January 5, 2025, at approximately 2:30 a.m. The incident took place at 5300 Washington Avenue and left a 20-year-old male wounded. The authorities have released photos of the suspect, urging the community to assist in identifying him. According to the Houston Police Department's Central Patrol Division, the suspect is a Hispanic male in his early 20s.
The victim of the shooting was transported to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. HPD patrol officers arrived at the scene in a parking lot where the shooting took place. Found by the officers, the victim had sustained a gunshot wound. The Houston Fire Department paramedics were responsible for his transport to the hospital.
Witness accounts have provided some insight into the events leading up to the shooting. An argument between the suspect and the victim escalated when the suspect allegedly shot the victim. Although the shooting itself was not witnessed, bystanders did observe the suspect brandishing a black handgun in his waistband during their altercation. This led to the initial investigation and eventual obtaining of the suspect's photographs by the police.
