
Houston authorities have reportedly taken into custody Ellender Green, the 45-year-old suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of Jeremiah Standokes, age 49, which occurred last August. According to the Houston Police Department, Green, also referred to as "Pinky," was arrested last Thursday by the HPD Narcotics Tactical Team while executing an arrest warrant for an unrelated felony. Post-arrest, Green apparently spoke to homicide detectives and admitted her involvement in the aforementioned shooting death of Standokes. Charges were promptly filed against Green for the murder, subsequently landing her in the Harris County Jail.
The incident in question took place at approximately 6 a.m. on August 27, 2024, near a transit bus stop on 7900 Sunbury Street. The victim, identified as Standokes, was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics after suffering gunshot wounds. Initial reports indicated no witnesses or suspects were readily identified.
Further investigation led by HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Cass and Detective J. Brown eventually pointed to Green as a suspect, boasting to the building of a case robust enough to issue a felony charge with the assistance of the Harris County District Attorney's Office, as reported by the Houston Police Department.
