
An 81-year-old man from Hudson lost his life following a collision on State Road 52 that occurred just past noon yesterday. Florida Highway Patrol stated that the incident happened near Little Road in Hudson when the senior citizen, operating a Jeep Cherokee, attempted a left turn into a plaza and crossed paths with a commercial truck headed in the opposite direction, WFLA reports.
The collision caused the Jeep to rotate and overturn, resulting in grievous injuries for the elderly driver who was later transferred to a local hospital for treatment, where despite efforts to save him, he later succumbed to his injuries the Pasco News Online detailed the driver of the truck, a 62-year-old from Apollo Beach, walked away from the crash unharmed while the cause of the crash is still under investigation by authorities as they look into the specific details of what led to this tragic event.
Official reports indicate that the crash transpired around 12:08 p.m., at which time the victim's vehicle entered the truck's westbound trajectory, prompting the fatal encounter the Tampa Free Press notes that the highway patrol is continuing with their inquiries into the circumstances that led to the Jeep's disruptive path into oncoming traffic.
