Human remains were discovered on the outskirts of Atlanta, near the Goat Farm Arts Center, yesterday late afternoon. According to Atlanta News First, the police were called to 1200 Foster Street NW at around 3:15 p.m. to investigate what appeared to be human remains.
Multiple police units were seen near a wooded area just south of the Arts Center, where the investigation into the death began. "We had an individual with the public that was out taking pictures and found the body in the woods," said Commander Andrew Smith of the Atlanta Police Homicide Unit, according to FOX 5 Atlanta. The area, often frequented by locals, was not typically associated with such events.
The discovery has left nearby residents concerned. "Definitely not what I would expect," said Delorein Henry, expressing his shock to FOX 5 Atlanta. "That’s very disturbing to hear, especially as a young woman who lives by herself and walks her dog late at night," said Madelein Vanderlinde, another local resident, questioning her safety and routines.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office took over the investigation, removing the remains from the site, as reported by Atlanta News First. The identity of the victim and the circumstances of their death remain unknown. An autopsy will be performed to gather more information.
