Last night, a traffic stop by the Humble Police Department turned dramatic when an officer was trapped in his cruiser after a three-vehicle collision on US Hwy. 59 North. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. when the officer was attending to a yellow Mustang pulled over for speeding near the San Jacinto River bridge, as reported by FOX 26 Houston.
During the stop, the officer's vehicle was positioned on the roadside with emergency lights on when a white Lexus sedan crashed into the patrol car. The collision trapped the officer inside, and he broke a window to escape, according to the Humble Police Department's Facebook page.
Investigations revealed that the female driver of the Lexus was intoxicated at the time of the crash. She was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
The officer received medical treatment and has since been discharged from the hospital, recovering at home. The driver of the yellow Mustang was unharmed and did not receive a speeding citation.
