A Brooklyn home that has been the stage for over a hundred television and commercial productions is on the market with an asking price of $2.3 million. Located at 28 Wellington Ct. in the Ditmas Park neighborhood, this house has been the abode of Jason and Crystal Marks since 2016. With its sprawling 2,900 square feet, the property has caught the eye of location scouts and proved profitable for the Marks family.
Featured in campaigns for brands like Kohl's and HomeGoods, the house has also made screen appearances on "The Daily Show." In a statement obtained by ABC7NY, Crystal Wharton Marks recounted how their foray into the location hosting began, "Someone slid a note through our mailbox, said 'your house would be perfect for this commercial we are shooting,' so we gave them a call and we did the first one and then I reached out to other location managers, just through research online."
Aside from its popular appeal to film crews, the home is ingrained with features that steep it in charm. As reported by The New York Post, it offers a blend of historic elements such as restored stained-glass windows and original hardwood floors, complemented by modern updates like a marble countertop kitchen and a cozy office space. The house even includes an owner's suite with a walk-in closet and a bathroom featuring an old-fashioned clawfoot tub under a skylight. The neighborhood is famous for its porch-front jazz concerts and Halloween block parties, fostering a community spirit that contrasts the city's bustling nature.
The property's storybook run as a filming location has led to some memorable moments for the Marks. Jason Marks told ABC7NY, "We basically paid for a vacation to Hawaii, a major campaign was run out of this home and while we were in Hawaii we saw our home that paid for the vacation on TV in our hotel." However, the Marks are ready to turn the page, seeking to downsize and relocate to Shelter Island, while still keeping a smaller property in the city for weekends.
With its media pedigree, the Victorian home stands out as a piece of Brooklyn’s cinematic history. As for its owners, their experience has been rewarding both financially and personally, creating stories as unique as the commercials and TV shows filmed within its walls. This architectural jewel is represented by Eric Volpe and Andrea Kelly of Corcoran, ready for new proprietors to write the next chapter of its illustrious history.
