Early this morning, a catastrophic event unfurled on I-45 North Freeway, leaving at least one individual deceased in a wrong-way collision that involved four vehicles—a calamity that police ascribe to impaired driving. Click2Houston reports that a Ford F-150, driven by a woman on the wrong side of the highway, collided head-on with a silver Jeep, causing both vehicles to clash with two additional cars, the circumstances of which are under the scrutiny of the Houston Police Department.

According to KHOU, the Jeep driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the Ford F-150 driver is in custody. Officials say the woman was intoxicated and may face an intoxication manslaughter charge. The crash disrupted the morning rush, forcing traffic onto feeder roads and causing heavy congestion on I-45, the Hardy Toll Road, and Airline Drive.
