The Jack C. Massey College of Business, renowned for its progressive academic programs, is making headway in STEM education. The college recently announced the STEM designation for its Master of Accountancy and the Accelerated Master of Business Administration degrees by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, a move that aligns with the ever-increasing demand for STEM-related job roles that offer competitive salaries.
STEM professionals have become the linchpin of modern industries, a fact laid bare during the 2020-2023 semiconductor crisis and its jarring effect on the global economy. To directly address these employment gaps, the Jack C. Massey College of Business has decided to expand its STEM offerings, attempting to contribute proactively to bridging the looming workforce shortage. According to Belmont University's news release, a joint study by the Semiconductor Industry Association and Oxford Economics predicts that, if trends persist, as many as 1.4 million STEM jobs might remain unfilled by the year 2030.
The latest initiatives by Massey College have brought the total number of their STEM-designated programs to five. This inclusive roster also features the online Master of Science in Applied Analytics and undergraduate degrees in accounting and business systems & analytics, as per Belmont University. Such achievements underline the college's commitment to not just academic excellence but also to its responsiveness to the evolving marketplace demands.
