A man has been arrested and charged after allegedly shooting at his ex-girlfriend and then barricading himself in her car, in a tense standoff with police in Jennings, according to KSDK. The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Jairell Allmon, engaged in a heated argument with the woman which escalated to gun violence. Allmon subsequently locked himself in the woman's vehicle outside her home, refusing to surrender.
During the incident, which lasted several hours on Tuesday, Allmon not only defied law enforcement but also took to Facebook to post what appeared to be final messages. As reported by FOX2Now, the man encouraged officers to shoot him while refusing to exit the barricaded car. It wasn't until later that police successfully apprehended Allmon and recovered a firearm and two shell casings at the scene.
St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has hit Allmon with a slew of charges, including unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action, unlawful possession of a firearm, and resisting arrest. He is currently being held on a $150,000 cash-only bond, with no option to post 10% for release. Information shared by KSDK further details that Allmon had been inside the woman's car sleeping before the confrontation ensued.
Prior convictions for Allmon include several felonies, one being armed criminal action. This history of violent behavior puts Allmon's latest standoff with his ex-girlfriend and subsequent arrest into a starker, more concerning context. "Allmon has been previously convicted of several felonies, including armed criminal action," according to a statement obtained by First Alert 4. This list of charges against him could likely be compounded by his previous record.
