The John H. Carter Co. and its affiliate ControlWorx LLC have unveiled plans for a substantial new multipurpose facility in Ascension Parish, set to bolster the regional economy with a projected creation of new jobs and retention of existing ones. As detailed in a press release from the Louisiana Economic Development , the $69 million investment will construct a 285,000-square-foot Center for Industrial Excellence that aims to support several key sectors such as oil and gas, renewable energy, and pulp and paper production, to name a few.
This enterprise is expected not only to generate 175 direct new jobs but to also indirectly stimulate the creation of an additional 301 positions, cumulatively effectuating a total of 476 potential new jobs in the Capital Region. In a statement obtained by Louisiana Economic Development, Secretary Susan B. Bourgeois expressed confidence that “this facility will ensure Louisiana’s industrial sector can operate safely and effectively by optimizing a legacy industry to lead in the future as it has in the past.” The center's influence is to reach broadly across the Gulf Coast with its flow control products and services.
The announcement comes with the commitment from John H. Carter Co. to retain 741 current jobs across Louisiana, evidencing its investment into the state's workforce and communities. Construction is slated to begin in March at the site located at 3088 S. Burnside Ave., Gonzales, with commercial operations kickstarting in early 2027. Founded in 1933, the company has long been a provider of process automation products and support for a wide array of industry clients, as reported by the Louisiana Economic Development.
The addition of this facility represents a critical development for the community, attracting further praise from local leaders. Gonzales Mayor Tim Riley told Louisiana Economic Development, “We are proud to celebrate John H. Carter Co.’s expansion into Gonzales, bringing new jobs to our community.” Meanwhile, the state has moved to aggressively support the project, offering a competitive incentive package that includes a $590,000 infrastructure improvement grant, subject to approval by the Louisiana Economic Development Corporation board, and is projected to also participate in Louisiana’s lucrative economic incentive programs.
Kate MacArthur, President and CEO of Ascension Economic Development Corp., echoed the sentiment of optimism, saying, “John H. Carter Co.’s decision to grow its operations in Ascension Parish is a huge win for our community.” Similarly, Lori Melancon, President and CEO of Baton Rouge Area Chamber, underscored the broader implications of the project, highlighting its service to local manufacturers and energy companies that are a backbone to the area's economic growth and prosperity, as per the Louisiana Economic Development.
