On March 8, Carroll County Parks is partnering with Chattahoochee Riverkeeper for the RiverLands Paddle Cleanup from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event invites both experienced and beginner paddlers to navigate the waters from RiverLands Park to Moore's Bridge, just south of Atlanta.
According to an announcement from the Carroll County website, participants can bring their own gear or borrow a kayak, personal flotation device (PFD), and paddle at registration. Chattahoochee Hills, Trust for Public Land, and Heard County Outfitters are also partnering in this cleanup effort, aimed at preserving the river and its ecosystem. Paddlers will meet at 8 a.m. to unload boats and then take a shuttle to the starting point.
The course covers five miles of moderate moving water. Participants will receive trip details by email a week before the event to help with preparations.
The RiverLands Paddle Cleanup aims to protect the Chattahoochee River’s natural beauty and health, promoting environmental stewardship and community involvement. The event is expected to end between 2 and 3 p.m.
