Maintenance work is on the horizon for drivers in the Kansas City area, with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) announcing roadway work scheduled for the upcoming week. According to a recent update from MoDOT, travel routes in Johnson, Saline, and Ray counties will see various operations ranging from flagging to full closures between Monday and Friday, all contingent on the cooperation of the weather.
Specifically, on Missouri Highway 13 between Route PP and SE 600 Rd. in Johnson County, a flagging operation will be conducted from Monday through Wednesday and again on Friday, from roughly 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., for the purpose of brush cutting. Further, Route W is set to undergo similar measures for the entire workweek. MoDOT urges motorists to prepare to slow down and to be vigilant when passing through these zones, as maintenance crews and their equipment will be operatively present.
In Saline County, travelers can expect a flagging operation on Missouri Highway 240, stretching from U.S. Highway 65 to Missouri Highway 41 South. This operation, designed to swiftly patch potholes, is slated to run daily throughout the entire week during the same 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. timeframe. Such maintenance is critical in preserving the integrity of travel lanes and ensuring that consequent commutes may proceed smoothly and undisturbed by the dangers that such road deformities pose.
Additionally, Ray County will experience a total closure of Missouri Business Highway 10 from Missouri Highway 10 to Swafford Rd. This closure, intended to facilitate extensive brush cutting, will disrupt thoroughfare from Monday to Friday, again between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. MoDOT notes that not all work zones look alike and that they can be temporary installations to either make quick repairs or to clear the roadway of debris. The department reminds motorists to always exercise caution when driving near or through any work zones, for the safety of all parties involved.
For those making commutes or travel plans in these areas, adjustments to routes and schedules may be necessary. It is advisable to frequently check traffic updates and plan ahead to avoid delays. The importance of adhering to signage and road crew directions during this period cannot be overstated, as it ensures the safety of both the workers on the road and the drivers passing through the maintained areas.
