Drivers and residents who frequent the stretch of I-70 between The Paseo to east of U.S. 40/31st Street in Kansas City have a chance to learn more about upcoming changes to their daily commutes. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has teamed up with Clarkson-Radmacher Joint Venture for the Improve I-70 KC project and is hosting an open house public meeting to discuss the latest updates on March 4.
The public meeting, scheduled from 5-7 p.m. at the Gregg/Klice Community Center, is designed to be a drop-in event, allowing attendees to come and go as they please within the two-hour window. Taking place at 1600 E. 17th Terrace in Kansas City, MoDOT and its contractors will detail the proposed design improvements, construction impacts, key dates, and ways to stay informed throughout the duration of the project. MoDOT's announcement underlines that community engagement is a cornerstone of this project's process.
Construction is slated to begin this Spring, marking a significant step forward for the undertaking meant to enhance one of the city's primary thoroughfares. With the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission selecting Clarkson-Radmacher Joint Venture as the Design-Build contractor, they are now gearing up to spearhead the project that aims not just to improve travel but also to shape the infrastructure for the years to come.
For those who cannot make it in person, the project webpage offers access to the public meeting boards and the option to sign up for construction notifications. This continuation of the dialogue between the authorities and the community encapsulates the importance of public input that has been integral since the project's inception. Thanks to all who have provided feedback thus far, states an update on MoDOT's website.
Residents dependent on public transport need not worry, as the Gregg/Klice Community Center is on Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) bus routes, ensuring accessibility for all interested parties.
