The new satellite office promises to make life a bit easier for Eastside residents, offering motor vehicle transactions; transactions for utility payments, bus passes, and tipping coupons. It's important to remember that services at Kapa‘a are available by appointment only, as walk-ins and Kupuna Hour are not currently available at this location. The streamlined check-in system requires customers to check in for their scheduled appointments with their mobile devices—an advance that eases access but has the strict stipulation that if you're more than 5 minutes late, the appointment will be canceled.
The array of services provided does come with some limitations, however. Those in need of driver's license renewals, state IDs or CDL services, along with driver's permit and road testing, are directed to the Līhu‘e DMV location for assistance. This separation of services appears to be a strategic approach, distributing different demands across multiple sites for possibly greater efficiency and focus.
