Non-profits on Kaua'i are seeking funding for programs aimed at improving the well-being of local youth and adults. Prosecuting Attorney Rebecca Like reminded organizations that applications for the Life’s Choices Adult and Adolescent Mental Health and Substance Abuse Community Program Grants are due by 4:00 p.m. on Friday next week. These grants support mental health and substance abuse treatment, as well as programs promoting pro-social activities.

As per the release from the County of Kaua'i, Kaua'i non-profits can apply for funding for programs that encourage positive social behavior, personal growth, and community involvement. This includes activities such as physical activity, leadership training, civic engagement, and peer support. Applicants do not need to provide mental health or substance abuse treatment services directly.

The Request for Proposals (RFP) is available on the Life’s Choices website. Applications must be submitted digitally to [email protected] by the deadline. Late submissions and other delivery methods, such as snail mail or fax, will not be accepted.

Grant recipients will be notified in the week of February 24. Selected organizations will receive funding for one year, from mid-March 2025 to mid-March 2026. Prosecutor Like said in the same release, "This year, priority consideration will be given to programs serving adolescents and young adults on Kaua‘i. Evidence continues to show that engaging youth in pro-social activities leads to better outcomes as adults. If your organization serves youth and is a qualifying nonprofit, we encourage you to apply."
