The Kaua‘i Police Activities League (K-PAL) will host the Mayor’s Youth Track Meet for middle school students this April. The event will provide an opportunity for students to participate in track and field events, including sprints, hurdles, and jumps, while promoting community engagement, according to the county's press release.
In partnership with Island School and Iwi Kua, K-PAL will host its first track meet for middle school students in grades 6 through 8. The event will focus on athletic skills, character development, sportsmanship, and enjoyment. A meeting for coaches is scheduled for March 3 at 5:30 p.m. at 3990 Ka‘ana St., Suite 200. Coaches who are unable to attend should contact the Kaua‘i Police Department before the meet.
The event is scheduled for April 18 at Island School, starting at 9:00 a.m. Participants will compete in a range of events, including the 60-meter dash, relays, long jump, high jump, and shot put. The Open Mixed Division for relays allows teams of two boys and two girls from any grade to compete together.
Parents and guardians can register their children on Athletic.net by adding them as a Managed Athlete. Individual participants who are not affiliated with a school can also sign up. Coaches should ensure their athletes are registered through Athletic.net. If assistance is needed, K-PAL can be contacted via email or phone, with contact information available in the press release.
