Lahaina Alert Lane Closures on Honoapiʻilani Highway Due to Housing Project ConstructionSource: Google Street View

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation (HDOT) has announced lane closures at an intersection in Lahaina due to the ongoing construction of the Kaiāulu o Kūkuʻia Affordable Housing project. Crews will be installing sewer lines and paving.

According to Hawai‘i Department of Transportation (HDOT), starting at 8 p.m. on Monday next week, and continuing until 5 p.m. Friday, one northbound lane on Honoapiʻilani Highway at Kapunakea Street will be closed 24/7. The lane will remain closed to allow for uninterrupted work at the utility cover. Drivers will still have one open northbound lane, but the closure could cause delays.

Additional nighttime closures are scheduled from Feb. 17 to Feb. 21. During this period, one lane in both directions will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night for paving and restriping, though one lane in each direction will remain open.

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises following all traffic signs and controls for safety. Updates can be found on HDOT’s social media pages.
