The County of Maui Department of Public Works has announced that traffic signals at the intersection of Keawe and Kupuohi streets in Lahaina will be temporarily out of service for upgrades. The outage is scheduled to occur from approximately 8 p.m. on Friday to 4 a.m. on Saturday. During this time, drivers may experience delays and should follow instructions from temporary traffic control staff managing the intersection, as reported by the County of Maui.
The county is set to replace rented equipment with a county-owned traffic signal system, a move intended to reduce costs and improve traffic flow for both pedestrians and drivers. According to the County of Maui, the new system will enhance pedestrian accommodations and optimize traffic signal timing. Although the upgrade may cause temporary disruptions, the road will remain open, with only the traffic signals impacted during the brief installation period.
