On Wednesday last week, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) arrested a Honduran national with lawful permanent status who was wanted for sexual assault in Harris County. The incident occurred on South Zapata Highway, near Riverhill Loop in Laredo, as reported by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The stop began when a DPS Trooper pulled over a 2011 International truck tractor for a traffic violation. After stopping, the driver and several passengers fled into the nearby brush. A multi-agency search led to the capture of seven illegal immigrants and the driver.

The driver was identified as 49-year-old Junior Adalid Montoya-Alvarez, a Honduran national. He was arrested on charges of human smuggling and an outstanding sexual assault warrant. The seven individuals with him, from Guatemala and Mexico, were handed over to the Border Patrol.

The traffic stop was part of the Operation Lone Star (OLS) initiative, aimed at addressing illegal activities like smuggling and human trafficking. The partnership between state and federal agencies is crucial for enforcing immigration laws.
