The Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas event is expected to disrupt traffic as it takes over the city's streets. According to a recent Facebook post by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), significant road closures are expected in downtown Las Vegas and along the iconic Las Vegas Boulevard.
For the pedestrians ready to pump their fists and cheer the runners on Saturday and Sunday, the fun comes with a map of detours. The traffic changes will begin with the 5K race on Saturday, leading to closures throughout downtown, with the half marathon and 10K following on Sunday, impacting the strip further. Road closure start times could be as "early as 8:00 AM," and some sections may not reopen until "as late as 2:00 AM (Feb. 24)," the LVMPD warns.
Drivers will face road closures and blocked exits during the Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas event. Las Vegas Blvd will be shut down between Tropicana and Sahara avenues, and I-15 off-ramps at Tropicana, Flamingo, Spring Mountain, Sahara, and Charleston will be closed. Additionally, downtown areas like Fremont St, Bridger Ave, and Carson Ave will also be impacted.
For those who steer clear of marathons as if dodging potholes, the LVMPD has a message: "Plan ahead, expect delays, and use alternate routes." The ripple effect of the event, with roadblocks springing up along crucial arteries, foreshadows a series of starts and stops for Vegas's vehicular lifelines. "All closure times are approximate and subject to change," as per LVMPD
