A man has been arrested in connection with the death of his father in Las Vegas. On Wednesday, medical personnel initially suspected natural causes in the death of an elderly man at a home on the 5300 block of Caprock Canyon Avenue. However, law enforcement later suspected foul play, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD).

When officers arrived, they found signs that led them to call homicide detectives. The detectives determined the elderly man had died from a gunshot wound. At the time of the incident, the man was home alone with his 35-year-old son, Timothy La. Further investigation revealed that La shot his father and left the property.

Timothy La was arrested upon his return to the scene and charged with Open Murder with a Deadly Weapon. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center. The victim's identity and the official cause and manner of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is asking the public for any information that may assist in the investigation. Tips can be directed to the LVMPD Homicide Section or submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers of Nevada via their phone hotline or website.
