Last Tuesday, a collision at the intersection of South Buffalo Drive and West Tropicana Avenue resulted in critical injuries for a 26-year-old female driver. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the victim was driving a 2012 Hyundai Accent when she failed to make a turn and struck a raised barrier wall. She was immediately transported to University Medical Center's Trauma Center, where she fought for her life in critical condition.
Despite efforts by medical professionals to stabilize and save her, the driver succumbed to her injuries last Friday, three days later. Her death is noted as the 26th traffic-related fatality within the jurisdiction of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department for the year. The incident, which did not initially bring out the Collision Investigation Section due to the extent of injuries, remains under the department's scrutiny as they continue to thoroughly investigate the crash.
With this fatality, Las Vegas residents are urged to remain vigilant on the roads and to adhere to traffic laws designed to protect them. As the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department continues to unfurl the details around this tragic event, they seek to reduce future incidents with increased awareness and prevention strategies.
