A man was killed in Las Vegas after being struck by a vehicle involved in an illegal street race. The incident occurred on Wednesday, at approximately 10:47 p.m. at the intersection of North Nellis Boulevard and Kell Lane. A Honda was speeding north on Nellis Boulevard, racing with another unidentified vehicle, when it struck a man. The man, whose identity has not been released, died at the scene from severe injuries. The driver of the Honda, 25-year-old Duglas Esteban-Chacon of Las Vegas, remained at the scene and was arrested for reckless driving, as reported by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal collision, the 28th traffic-related death in its jurisdiction this year. Surveillance footage and evidence from the scene are assisting the investigation. Duglas Esteban-Chacon, who was not injured in the incident, is cooperating with police.
