
Leesburg, a city usually known for its tranquil lakes and legacy as an early Florida frontier town, has been the backdrop of a harrowing incident. According to ClickOrlando, authorities are conducting a manhunt for 36-year-old Henry Demetria Darity, who is suspected of shooting and robbing a 51-year-old man on Sunday evening. The attack occurred around 8 p.m. along Truitt Street, and the suspect reportedly fled on foot after the incident.
The victim, whom police found suffering from an upper-body gunshot wound, was promptly taken to the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. Officers at the scene provided first aid until medical personnel arrived. Running away after the shooting, detectives have identified Darity and an active arrest warrant for charges that include attempted homicide and armed robbery has been issued. As per the authorities, Darity also faces charges of armed trespassing.
