A water line rupture has caused a significant service disruption across much of Lewisville, leaving many residents with either low pressure or no water. The Lewisville Police Department's social media update urged residents to refrain from calling 911 for water loss reports to ensure emergency services remain available for more critical emergencies. "Please do not call 911 to report water loss issues. We need to keep 911 lines free for police/fire/EMS emergencies," the notice stated.
Authorities described the break as a "really big one" late last night. Crews were dispatched to address the issue. As repair efforts got underway, officials communicated that a boil water advisory would be in effect once service was reestablished.
Despite initial speculation, the issue does not stem from a power outage at the treatment plant. "It is not a power outage at the treatment plant, as has been speculated," the Lewisville Police Department asserted in an update. Some areas, including northwest and far east Lewisville, were lucky to escape the outage. The majority of customers, however, are presently affected.
Residents have made over 500 non-emergency calls to the already strained 911 service. While the exact cause of the disruption is yet to be pinpointed, restoration and water supply testing are priorities for the city's repair crews. As the situation evolves, updates are promised to be provided through the Lewisville Police Department's social media channels.
