Last night in Long Beach turned turbulent with a shooting and a separate incident involving gun recovery. Officers rushed to the 3300 block of 65th Street at approximately 11:05 p.m. yesterday, where a heated argument precipitated gunfire, leaving one man injured, as reported by the Long Beach Police Department.
The confrontation began with words that could not stay caged within the minds of the disputants, escalating until one pulled the trigger, inflicting the victim with wounds that were, thankfully, not life-threatening. "Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the lower body," the LBPD recounted. The victim was promptly transported to the hospital by Long Beach Fire Department personnel. However, the suspect had vanished before law enforcement could apprehend him.
Earlier that evening, Long Beach officers showcased their vigilance during a routine traffic stop at Pacific Coast Highway and Lemon Avenue. The traffic stop, which took place around 7:35 p.m., resulted in the arrest of two individuals who were found to be prohibited from possessing firearms. "During the investigation, officers recovered a firearm," said the LBPD. Two suspects, identified as prohibited possessors, were taken into custody. The investigation remains ongoing.
