A fire that erupted at a commercial building in Green Meadows was extinguished after a concerted effort by Los Angeles firefighters on Tuesday. In the initial report by the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), the fire was described as an "outside fire threatening surrounding commercial buildings, at least one automobile, and a power pole with wires arcing upon fire department arrival." The incident, recorded under incident number 0964, began at 1:24 PM at 1145 E 108th St.
Upon arrival, the firefighters requested a full structure fire response to contain the blaze that presented multiple threats to the vicinity. According to a follow-up alert, nearby news helicopters were asked by Incident Command to move further away "due to volume interference with fireground operations."
The fire was successfully knocked down in 64 minutes by approximately 90 firefighters who were at the scene. The LAFD's update stated the crew "successfully extinguished flames in a building exposed to fire," alongside mitigating outdoor threats which included "exposed wires and off-gassing propane tanks." The exhaustive search by firefighters confirmed in the knockdown report that no occupants were injured during the incident.
