Brace yourselves, Pagosa Springs residents and travelers. Starting March 17, roadworks will descend upon US Highway 160 in the downtown area, aiming to reshape the town’s thoroughfare into a smoother and more modern pathway. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), alongside WW Clyde and Companies, is the driving force behind this project, which is expected to not only improve the road but also the overall flow of traffic. An open house session is scheduled for March 3, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Archuleta County Extension Building Exhibit Hall, for anyone interested in scoping out the plans in greater detail.
The open house presents a prime opportunity for locals to properly understand the project's scope and phases, as well as to touch base directly with representatives from CDOT and WW Clyde. For those unable to physically attend, information can still be accessed through a link, provided by CDOT. Ensuring community involvement and awareness seems to be a top priority for CDOT, as they strive to quickly and efficiently move forward with construction while also addressing the concerns and needs of residents.
CDOT's Regional Transportation Manager, Julie Constan, emphasized the collaborative efforts with the community, stating, "Over the past year and a half, CDOT has worked with and listened to the community as this project has moved forward," as obtained by CDOT. She highlighted the balance achieved through this engagement, "providing heightened attention to limiting impacts during construction." Key considerations have been incorporated into the project, including restricted work times to ease school traffic woes and coordination with emergency and law enforcement to keep things running smoothly.
