A grim scene unfolded yesterday afternoon when a man was found with multiple gunshot wounds at 101 South Cesar Chavez Boulevard. The Houston Police Department patrol officers responded to the incident around 3 p.m., according to a press release. The victim, whose identity has yet to be confirmed, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital by Houston Fire Department paramedics and was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Detectives from the HPD Homicide Division led by M. Althaus and D. Davis quickly began to piece together the harrowing events. Marcus Jack, 48, was arrested and has been charged with murder, assault, and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. He was found and apprehended in the 6900 block of Harrisburg Boulevard and is currently held in the Harris County Jail. "Further investigation and evidence from the scene determined Jack assaulted a female with whom he had a dating relationship," HPD stated in their official report. A male approached Jack and slapped him, which led Jack to tragically pull out a pistol from his waistband and fatally shoot the victim multiple times as he walked away.
Jack, who now faces serious legal charges in the 486th State District Court, has a prior criminal record, which elevated the weapon possession to an unlawful status. The assault was part of a violent argument with the woman Jack had been involved with, which led to a tragic loss of life.
