
Tragedy struck Gilbert as a man was fatally shot by police officers, and a woman was injured in what began as a report of forced abduction and culminated in the officer-involved shooting. FOX 10 Phoenix reports that the incident started around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday when the Phoenix Police Department was alerted to a man forcing a woman into a truck near Interstate 10 and 51st Avenue.

The investigation led officers to track the vehicle that was subsequently located in Gilbert, near Higley and Williams Field Roads. According to ABC15, it was around midnight when officers engaged with the truck, intending to grapple it, essentially setting the stage for the shooting.
Both individuals in the truck suffered gunshot wounds. The man succumbed to his injuries while the woman remains hospitalized. The severity of her condition, as well as the identities of both individuals, remained undisclosed. Echoing the complexities of this unfolding situation, "The exact details are still under investigation," Phoenix PD Sgt. Brian Bower told FOX 10 Phoenix.
