Tragedy struck in the early hours of Monday morning in Houston's Acres Homes neighborhood when a dispute between a couple escalated into a fatal shooting. The incident resulted in the death of a man who has been identified as the brother-in-law of the suspect, according to both Click2Houston and KHOU.
The incident occurred at an apartment complex on Garden City Drive off W Montgomery Road. The Houston Police Department responded to the scene at around 1 a.m. following a distress call about the argument. Witnesses say the victim tried to calm the situation before the suspect shot him. The suspect then fled the scene with a weapon, as stated by Click2Houston.
Houston police are actively searching for a suspected shooter who remains at large after fatally shooting a man, identified as the victim’s brother-in-law. "At that point, the suspect shot the victim, the brother-in-law, and then fled the scene with a gun" stated Houston Police Department Lt. J.P. Horelica, as reported by KHOU. Emergency responders arrived but pronounced the victim dead. Authorities know the identities involved but have not released them.
