The Manhattan Beach Police Department reported a weekly crime summary for the period of January 30 to February 5, 2025, documenting an alarming array of incidents, ranging from assaults to residential burglaries. The summary, which was published on February 7th, shows a total of 38 crime reports taken, with 9 arrests made out of 762 calls for service.
Among the most concerning was an incident that occurred last Thursday at around 11:03 PM, when officers conducting a traffic stop on Sepulveda Boulevard heard multiple gunshots emanating from a residential area nearby. Despite an immediate search on foot, no evidence was initially found. However, a resident later discovered several shell casings, prompting a more extensive investigation. "K9 Rio searched the area for additional evidence of the shooting," and damage to a construction site was also noted in the report. Fortunately, no victims were found.
Properties in Manhattan Beach continue to be targets for break-ins as a further two residential burglaries were carefully documented. Last Thursday, suspects were seen leaving a home on 8th Street with the residents' return, which had been ransacked. Then, on February 1, another residence on 6th Street became a crime site where surveillance footage caught four suspects in the act. In this latter event, suspects "entered a white SUV and drove east on 6th Street," with handbags and jewelry listed among the stolen items.
The police have urged residents to remain vigilant and ensure that their homes are secured. Statistical data shows that there were five assaults and numerous vehicle-related crimes, including 23 traffic collisions and 4 vehicle burglaries. Despite the zero recorded instances of auto theft, robbery, and business burglaries for this specific week, the department has been proactively working to prevent to fully eradicate such offenses in the area. All cases, particularly the shootings, are under active investigation as detectives seek to gather more information, according to the Manhattan Beach Police Department's report.
