
An incident occurred in Olivehurst on Monday when a man reportedly hit a person with his vehicle and fired a gun. According to a social media post by the Yuba County Sheriff's Department, the encounter prompted the involvement of the SWAT team amidst concerns for public safety.
The incident, which began just after 7 p.m., prompted a swift response from authorities following multiple calls to the dispatch center. Deputies arriving near Arboga Road and Kay Street found one person with moderate injuries from being struck by a vehicle, who was then transported to Adventist Health and Rideout Hospital in Marysville. Another victim reported being shot at by the suspect, who subsequently barricaded himself in a nearby residence, leading to a standoff.
Following hours of attempts to establish contact with the individual inside, SWAT members entered the home to find it empty, though they discovered a firearm. "After hours of attempting to contact the suspect inside, SWAT team members eventually entered and cleared the residence without locating anyone inside," the Sheriff's Department stated. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities actively gathering evidence to identify and locate the suspect.
