To swiftly aid Palisades locals in the aftermath of recent events, Mayor Karen Bass announced the opening of the L.A. One-Stop Rebuilding Center. Situated at 1828 Sawtelle Blvd., the center is designed as a hub for homeowners and business owners seeking to navigate the city's rebuilding process under the new, expedited guidelines set by Mayor Bass' emergency executive order.
"My priority and promise is to help people rebuild their homes and businesses as quickly and safely as possible," Bass explained in a statement made by the Mayor's Office. The mayor aims to simplify the sometimes daunting task of reconstruction by having ten City departments collaborate under one roof to answer and address any questions or needs from residents.
The One-Stop Rebuilding Center is to provide Palisadians with a streamlined service, from initial permit application to final inspection and approval, effectively bypassing traditional bureaucratic obstacles. Mayor Bass has directed the City departments to expedite all building permit reviews/inspections, circumvent state CEQA discretionary review, and allow "like for like" rebuilding while waiving City discretionary review processes, as detailed by the Mayor's Office.
The center's operation hours cater to busy schedules, opening from 10 AM to 8 PM during weekdays and 10 AM to 4 PM on weekends. According to the Mayor's Office, "Our One-Stop Rebuilding Center is a key part of our emergency executive action to streamline and expedite how families can rebuild their homes and their lives," Bass stated.
