Miami law enforcement recently arrested two individuals in separate incidents for possessing and distributing child sexual abuse materials. Local 10 News reported that 27-year-old Chris Herrera, a registered sex offender, was arrested after an online investigation found that his Kik accounts were used to exchange messages, images, and videos involving child sexual abuse.
Compounding the severity of Herrera's charges, the arrest report detailed "his interest in start an incestuous family where he and his significant other could sexually abuse their minor son and daughter." Herrera was taken into custody after authorities were notified of his online activities back on July 16, 2024. With a bond set at $150,000, he is currently facing 18 counts of possessing images of sexual performance by a child and six counts of promoting sexual performance by a child at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, according to Local 10 News.
On the same day, another man, Ronny Sanchez, found himself ensnared by the law due to the illicit content he hoarded. As reported by NBC 6 Miami, Miami police, with the help of Google's cyber tip-off, arrested Sanchez after discovering he had amassed over 1,500 child sex abuse images. The depths of his criminal activity were uncovered after a three-year-long engagement in downloading videos that exploit the innocence of children.
City of Miami Police Chief Manuel Morales told NBC 6 Miami, "This is a crime that often goes unnoticed and unreported. What they do, the hours that they labor sitting behind a computer trying to track down these damn predators that are going after the children--it's absolutely exhausting. It is, you know, mentally draining."
