
Midlothian Police Department in Texas gathered for their annual Department-wide meeting, where members from across various city services convened at the Conference Center. The event, held on January 30, focused on reflecting on past achievements and laying out strategic plans for the forthcoming year. Notably, Mayor Justin Coffman addressed the staff, expressing gratitude for their dedicated service to the community.
In a social media post from the Midlothian Police Department, it was reported that Chief Carl Smith led the session, including members from the Northern Ellis Emergency Dispatch and City of Midlothian Community Services. The event served as an accolade for the commendable efforts of the police force in the previous year, honoring those who had gone beyond the call of duty. The post highlighted, "Every year, all members of the Police Department, Northern Ellis Emergency Dispatch, and City of Midlothian Community Services meet with Chief Carl Smith and we recognize all of our accomplishments of the past year."
Officer Arthur Fletcher and Officer Nick VanDerkar received the Department’s Meritorious Conduct bar for their courageous actions during a domestic violence call. They defused a situation with a shotgun-wielding individual. The collective efforts of the Problem-Directed Response Team in 2024 were also acknowledged, with members receiving the Department’s Commendation bar for their contribution to maintaining neighborhood safety.
Honoring the progress of their officers, the ceremony continued with District Court Judge Grace Pandithurai administering the Oath of Office to all commissioned personnel. The Midlothian PD recognized various officers for their commitment and exemplary service by presenting them with their “permanent” badges. Those acknowledged were Officer Angelica Garcia, Officer Jose Higareda-Ramirez, Officer Zacary Blackburn, Officer Matthew Hoffmann, Officer Ben Shipman, Officer Casey Showalter, Officer Bryan Allen, Officer Klint Valley, and Sergeant Drew Wilson. Each had completed a full year of post-training service in their promotional grade, marking a significant milestone in their careers.
