On the morning of February 23, a routine traffic stop in Ceres led to an unexpected discovery. According to a Facebook post by the Ceres Police Department, Officer Christian Diaz pulled over a silver Acura SUV on Hatch Road and Herndon Road for violations of the California Vehicle Code.
During the stop, the driver, identified only as a 36-year-old man from Modesto, was found to be in possession of a firearm and a high-capacity magazine. The Ceres Police Department stated, "Officer Diaz established probable cause to conduct a search of the driver and his vehicle." The search unearthed the illegal items, leading to the driver's arrest for weapons violations.
The individual was subsequently booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center. The Ceres Police Department did not disclose further details regarding the nature of the vehicle code violations that initially prompted the traffic stop.
