
In a recent display of swift water rescue expertise, Montgomery County Fire Service responded to an emergency where two individuals found themselves stranded by floodwaters. According to a social media post by the department, the incident occurred at the intersection of Alfred Thun Rd and Corporate Parkway.
The crews from Station 17 were quick to act, utilizing Tower 17, a vehicle in their fleet engineered for such critical interventions, the firefighters successfully retrieved the two trapped occupants from their vehicle, which was stuck amidst the rising waters.
The Fire Service also took the opportunity to issue a stern warning on the hazards of driving through floodwaters. "If you come up to a flooded road turn around and don't drown," the post read, reinforcing the message of caution with a poignant reminder that barricades are there for public protection, and that circumventing these safeguards can lead to perilous outcomes.
