A Montrose man, Marcus C., had his life change with the winning of a $50,000 Powerball prize, and he decided to make a spectacle of the revelation. According to the Colorado Lottery, the Coloradan kept his family in suspense until the very moment he collected the prize in Grand Junction, where the amount was disclosed via an oversized check.
Despite Marcus's day job with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), hitting the jackpot is bound to give him a little financial breathing room. As reported by the Colorado Lottery, his family was none the wiser until they were hit with the big reveal. The unsuspecting crew were in for quite the shock, and could "couldn’t have been more delighted" when the winnings were disclosed.
Playing the Lottery a couple of times each month, Marcus had purchased his lucky ticket at Blair's Truckstop in Montrose. "Wow! Is this real??" was Marcus's initial reaction to his windfall, as he told the Colorado Lottery. It’s a natural response for anyone realizing they've just won a significant amount of money.
Though the influx of cash is no doubt exciting, Marcus is keeping his head on straight with plans to invest part of his winnings. But, it's not all stocks and bonds, he's also indulging in a luxury he’s keen on getting a hot tub. Perhaps relaxing in a hot tub is Marcus's way of letting the reality of his good fortune sink in.
