Last month's routine patrol for drunk drivers by the Napa Police Department led to a significant drug bust, including the seizure of three pounds of cocaine. The incident began when an officer pulled over 28-year-old Joseph Collins for speeding and found him in possession of seven baggies, each containing a gram of suspected cocaine, as per the Napa County Sheriff's Office.
Following this initial discovery, the Napa Special Investigations Bureau (NSIB) launched a follow-up investigation. Last Tuesday, the NSIB executed a search warrant at Collins' Vallejo residence, where they uncovered a substantial amount of drugs and illegal items. Among the seized objects were packaging materials, scales, cash, a money counter, MDMA powder, and psilocybin mushrooms. What's more, Collins was found in possession of five firearms and multiple high-capacity magazines.
The case has now moved to the courts, and charges are being filed against Collins in Napa County and Solano County. The law enforcement agencies remain vigilant in their efforts to root out illicit activities, as NSIB investigates not only drug trafficking but also human trafficking within the region. The Sheriff's Office has encouraged locals to report any suspicious activity by calling the NSIB at 253-4458, assuring them that their identities can remain confidential.
