After seven years of anticipation and a protracted legal process prolonged by the pandemic, justice has been served in the case of the slain basketball standout. The Nashville District Attorney's Office announced earlier this month that guilty verdicts were delivered on multiple serious charges, including first-degree premeditated Murder and Degree of Felony Murder. According to the official report, the defendant, who was 16 at the time of the crime, was tried as an adult following a transfer to criminal court.
The jury found the defendant guilty of Especially Aggravated Robbery and Aggravated Robbery with a Weapon in addition to the murder charges. The verdict brought profound relief to the victim's family, who, according to Victim Witness Coordinator Alex Ondrus, expressed their emotions vividly with many happy tears, big hugs, and hallelujahs upon hearing the outcome. The family's patience had been tested, and only more grinding was made by the year-long COVID court shutdown that hindered the legal proceedings.
Assistant District Attorneys Chris Buford and Lindsey Moreland, Investigator Randy Martin, Division V Media Analyst Michael Pointer, and Division V Criminal Court Secretary Nick Griffin were acknowledged for their roles in securing the verdict. The dedicated team's effort was pivotal in coordinating the necessary evidence and preparing the case for trial, showcasing an integration of legal proficiency and commitment to due process.
Sentencing for the defendant, now known as Frazier, is scheduled for April 10, marking the next phase of the legal process.
