Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit have unearthed the grim remnants of a Dodge Challenger, reported stolen from Murfreesboro on January 29. The vehicle, now reduced to nothing but a shell, was found during a search warrant execution at a garage located on the 5700 block of Cane Ridge Road. This discovery, as reported by the Nashville Police Department, has led to the apprehension of two suspects, Jeremy Smith and Tyler Whitney.

According to the details provided by police, the breakthrough came early Tuesday when Smith and Whitney were stopped on Greer Road. The two men were found with a pickup pulling a trailer concealing the hollow frame of the once-muscle car, hidden partially under a tarp. Initially, 31-year-old Smith, the driver, attempted to deflect suspicions by claiming to have found the Challenger abandoned on the side of the road. As the investigation pressed on, his narrative shifted. Finally, he admitted to retrieving the vehicle from the property on Cane Ridge Road, as obtained by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

Presently, both Smith and Whitney face charges of vehicle theft and evidence tampering. The duo remain confined, each held on a $75,000 bond.
