
In a recent press release shared by the Nevada County Sheriff's Office on social media, the arrest of a 71-year-old man, Charles “Chuck” Lowry, on charges of child sexual abuse, has been detailed. Lowry, from Nevada City, was taken into custody last Saturday, after he was accused of sexually abusing two children several years prior, both were under 10 years old at the time of the alleged abuse, as reported by the Nevada County Sheriff's Office.
The deputies who conducted the investigation arrested Lowry for multiple offenses, including continuous sexual abuse of a minor, lewd and lascivious acts with a child under age 14, sex acts with a minor under age 10, rape, and oral copulation with force. Lowry's bail was increased from $200,000, making release on bail impossible. He will remain at Wayne Brown Correctional Facility while awaiting court proceedings, as stated by the Nevada County Sheriff's Office.
According to the Nevada County Sheriff's Office on their Facebook page, they are leading an investigation into alleged offenses involving Lowry, working with the District Attorney’s Office. The identities, ages, and connection of the children to Lowry have been withheld to protect their privacy. No date has been given for Lowry's court appearance. The Sheriff's Office announced, "He is currently not eligible for release on bail and will remain in Wayne Brown Correctional Facility to await his court proceedings." The investigation is ongoing, and more details may be released later.
