The Johnson City Public Art Committee (JCPAC) is hosting a reception for the latest art display at Gallery on the Square. This new installation continues a tradition that began in 2018. This year, four permanent metal frames have been added, bringing the total to 13 spaces for art in the downtown area, as per the City of Johnson website.

The exhibit will feature works by local artists, including Angela Dingwell and Joe Strickland. It will also display graffiti-style pieces by Christina Majic, David Padilla, and Kyle Pierce, created at the 2024 Art∙Struck Festival. These pieces, originally completed on wooden panels, will be shown in a breezeway near the gallery.

The opening reception will be held on Thursday next week at 5 p.m. at The Generalist in Johnson City. Between 5 and 6 p.m., visitors can take an art tour through the outdoor breezeway. Starting at 6 p.m., gallery curators and artists will share insights about the installations.

Complimentary refreshments will be provided during the event. The Gallery on the Square project is part of the JCPAC’s ongoing effort to bring art to public spaces in Johnson City.
