A new HopCat location is set to open in Southgate this summer at 15231 Trenton Road, the former site of Old Chicago, which closed about a year ago. According to CBS Detroit, the restaurant and bar, known for its wide selection of craft beer and comfort food, plans to contribute to the local community.
In an announcement from Hopcat website, BarFly CEO Craig Stage said, "We couldn't be more thrilled to open our doors in Southgate." He added, "We're excited to bring our love for craft beer and comfort food to this amazing community and create a space where everyone feels welcome. We can't wait to meet our neighbors, share great moments, and become a go-to spot in Southgate."
The 6,700-square-foot venue will create around 100 new jobs. According to The Detroit News, the company is currently hiring management staff, with additional positions opening in the spring.
HopCat currently operates 10 locations in Michigan and one in Nebraska. The Southgate location will feature over 40 craft beer taps, a full-service bar, seating for 220 guests, and televisions for Detroit Lions games. It will also have an expanded outdoor patio with festive lighting.
