Clarksville's streets witnessed a change today as new traffic signals blinked to life at the Trenton Road and Spring Creek Parkway intersection. As reported by the City of Clarksville's official notice, this launch is part of the Spring Creek Parkway development, a key element in the Mayor's Transportation 2020+ Plan aiming to alleviate the vehicular strains on the county's thoroughfares.
The minor inconvenience will be felt by locals with Spring Creek Parkway now closed to thru-traffic just south of Stone Bluff Way. The roadblock is temporary, remaining in effect until the second phase of the construction, featuring a bridge over Spring Creek and an extended road to Wilma Rudolph Boulevard, begins later this year. The current traffic adjustments prefer Trenton Road commuters, particularly when the daily grind peaks and cars swarm like bees around a hive looking for passage.
Spring Creek Parkway isn't just another street; it's a strategic link designed to connect Tennessee Department of Transportation-managed highways - Trenton Road to Wilma Rudolph Boulevard, eventually leading to the city-managed Ted Crozier, Sr., Boulevard. This first phase termination at Spring Creek is just the tip of the infrastructure iceberg.
According to city officials, the grand vision of this roadway is to lessen the load on existing state highways and Crozier Boulevard, as well as Interstate 24 in Montgomery County. The completion of Phase 2, along with the bridge that lays part of the strategy foundation over Spring Creek and the pathway to Wilma Rudolph Boulevard, is on the municipal docket for later in the construction season.
